Our Approach

DARE - Health

Program Description

DARE-Health (Detect, Access, Respond, Enable) is a USSD-based health support system designed to provide vital diabetes information, guidance, and assistance to individuals without internet or smartphone access. By using simple mobile technology, this system will offer diabetes awareness, screening support, lifestyle recommendations, medication reminders, and direct access to healthcare services. The goal is to ensure inclusive, real-time health support for under-resourced populations who face barriers to digital health solutions.

Program Objective

To develop a USSD-powered health technology solution that enables individuals, especially those without internet access to detect risks, access information, respond to symptoms, and connect with essential diabetes care services, ensuring equitable health access for all.

Program Goals & Expected Impact

  • Develop and launch the USSD platform, accessible on basic mobile phones.
  • Provide diabetes education and awareness to at least 50,000 users in the first year.
  • Facilitate early detection by connecting users with screening locations and healthcare providers.
  • Improve diabetes self-management through automated reminders for medication, diet, and exercise.
  • Strengthen healthcare access for rural and low-income communities with limited digital connectivity.
  • Partner with hospitals, pharmacies, and health agencies to ensure users access affordable consultations and treatment options.
  • Continuously refine and scale the platform based on user feedback and health data insights.
